FINAL PROJECT--VECTOR SELF-PORTRAIT
Artist Statement.
Well, here I am...in all my vector glory.
As I always seem to find myself behind the camera, it was somewhat of a challenge finding a picture of myself. And in typical Amanda style--I am covering part of my face.
I did a couple of variations on this piece...actually when I was well on my way on the first draft I decided to completely start over.
My new approach lead to some new inspiration.
With a lot of my work this semester I have veered from my usual path of "busyness" and gone for a more simple approach/theme. That's what I ended up doing with my face.
As far as my hair goes, I just had some fun playing with it. my hair never listens to what I say, is usually a mess, and is always a couple of different colors.
Same goes for my eyes--always changing shades, they can be quite green with the right outfit so I went with that. Had fun playing with my background and matching it with my eyeballs.
I like the bubbles...they remind me of little thought bubbles--as if I am thinking about my logo.
And speaking of my logo...
I didn't realize until last project (after struggling with logo ideas), that I often sign my name "A. Tubbs"....I like it...and liked the simplicity of it that went along with my overall piece.
Haha--I just realized that my blog name is set up as A. Tubbs.

Gig Poster Info
First of all I want to thank whoever the person is that I used the Janis Joplin stencil from.
I did this poster with the psychedelic genre in mind. Art in this form began in the 1960's and more and more mind altering drugs became popular. Full of swirly, surreal patterns in very bright colors, this art genre was formed based on the mind altering drugs that were thought to inspire creativity.
Inspired by Janis Joplin, I played around with swirling various bright blues to form patterns that would reflect the era. Artists like Milton Glaser (best known for his I Love New York logo), and Peter Max were among some of the artists of this time. There were also many writers, psychiatrists, advertisers, and of course some great music to come out of this time.

Well...
...little by little these seem to be coming together.
I need to re-organize my notebook and start making sure that I am not forgetting anything.
I will admit...at first it was difficult...but now that I am starting to get the hang of it--dare I say I might be having some fun?

Art Splash! Art Event Numero Uno
Atop the flower fields hills, one lovely, sunny day...Splash! A crescent of creativity, a wave of wonder, a plethora of paintings. It was the Carlsbad Art Splash. Street entertainers, artists selling there work, kids participating in projects. And some pretty amazing chalk drawings running down the entire middle of it.
And just when it seemed like things couldn't get any better--live music and food! It was very nice-not too busy like some street fairs, and I really liked the interactive areas for kids to make and take some art for themselves.

Behind The Eight Ball
Never in my life have I been so behind on something...
and it's not my intention to be.
They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions...
...my road so far this semester has been paved with bad luck and right now a splitting headache.
Here's to getting back on track.....
