PROJECT FOUR--GIG POSTER

Gig Poster Info

First of all I want to thank whoever the person is that I used the Janis Joplin stencil from.

I did this poster with the psychedelic genre in mind.  Art in this form began in the 1960's and more and more mind altering drugs became popular.  Full of swirly, surreal patterns in very bright colors, this art genre was formed based on the mind altering drugs that were thought to inspire creativity.

Inspired by Janis Joplin, I played around with swirling various bright blues to form patterns that would reflect the era.  Artists like Milton Glaser (best known for his I Love New York logo), and Peter Max were among some of the artists of this time.  There were also many writers, psychiatrists, advertisers, and of course some great music to come out of this time.

Well...

...little by little these seem to be coming together.
I need to re-organize my notebook and start making sure that I am not forgetting anything.
I will admit...at first it was difficult...but now that I am starting to get the hang of it--dare I say I might be having some fun?
